Job description
The Bilingual Family Advisor (BFA) provides youth with disabilities, and families of children and youth with disabilities and professionals who work with the them with information in both English and Spanish. They will provide the information in a linguistically appropriate and culturally sensitive manner.

Attend education related meetings with youth and families;

Mentor youth with disabilities;

Provide technical and individualized, non-biased assistance to youth and/or families via the telephone or in person in both English and Spanish;

Conduct training in-person, GTM, Zoom, and other, as appropriate;

Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders;
-
Assist in the development of materials, curricula for the project, including revision and development of new workshops and materials;
-
Network with partners locally and on state-wide parent network and outreach efforts throughout PA;
-
Attends state-wide meetings and conferences, as appropriate;
-
Disseminate project training information, including exhibits, outreach activities and website

Adhere to HUNE’s data requirements and documents all client information and contacts, in-person and collateral, in HUNE’s database, as per HUNE protocol;

Participate in evaluation activities and assist in collecting and coordinating data on computer and maintaining database.

Assist in conducting translation (English and/or Spanish) of materials, as appropriate and/or requested;

The BFA will provide a monthly report on the status of trainings and clients served;

Ensures that documentation is submitted in accordance with HUNE standards, and meets all designated requirements;

Consults and collaborates with parents, team members, school faculty, and other referral agencies;

Participates in regular staff meetings, trainings and annual parent conferences;

Serves on committees designated by Philadelphia HUNE, Inc.;

Keeps informed of current memoranda by checking individual mailbox, posted memos/newsletters and staff/child information board;

Maintains current best practice standards through participation in conferences, webinars, workshops, reading related journals and literature;

Maintains confidentiality at all times;
-
Adheres to work schedule as directed;

Represents Philadelphia HUNE, Inc. in professional dress, manner and appearance;

Exhibits an ability to handle conflict in a calm, appropriate, and professional manner;
-
Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor and/or Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bilingual: Speak and write English and Spanish fluently (skills test applicable).

Strong networking skills.

Eager and willing to learn, must be a self-starter.

Computer literate. Microsoft Office experience

Associates degree in related field and two years experience or four years’ experience in community networking, education, training and/or related field.

Ability to keep good records.

Knowledge of special education laws (training will be provided).

Knowledge of GoToMeeting, Zoom, Prezi and Microsoft office (MW, Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel).

Bachelor’s degree and experience in an education related field or related experience.

Experience in community/human/social service, especially within a Latino community.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Salary: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
