Mrs. Luz Hernandez has served as the visionary Founding Executive Director of HUNE in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, since 1998. She is a dynamic force in the field of educational advocacy. Through her unwavering commitment, Mrs. Hernandez has led HUNE in supporting families of children and youth with disabilities as they seek equitable access to public education and pursue long-term educational and vocational goals.
Drawing on her extensive experience and expertise, Mrs. Hernandez has served as a member of the State Education Advisory Panel (SEAP) since 2008, further demonstrating her influence in shaping educational policies and improving outcomes for students with disabilities.
Her academic achievements include a Masters Certificate of Communication in Global Affairs with a specialization in Translation Studies from the University of Denver, a Bachelor of Business Management from the University of Phoenix, and an Associate of Science in Management from the Community College of Philadelphia. Mrs. Hernandez’s trailblazing work has earned her several distinguished honors, including recognition as one of the Delaware Valley’s Most Influential Latinos and an award from Hispanics in Philanthropy.
Mrs. Hernandez’s dedication also extends to her personal life. She resides in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, with her husband, her adult son with disabilities. She also has her two daughters.
