Yovanna Bustamante - Bilingual Training Coordinator

Hi, my name is Yovana Bustamante, I had done volunteer work with HUNE for six months. I assisted with training parents, technical assistance, and performing general office duties. Since February of 2007, HUNE contracted me to be its Bilingual Training Coordinator. As the Bilingual Training Coordinator, I will continue to train parents and professionals and educate them on the issues that Hispanic parents face when they navigate the special education system.

I am a Hispanic parent who lives in North Philadelphia with my two children. I am knowledgeable of the cultural background of HUNE’s clients, the region that they come from, and the difficulties that they face in ensuring that their children receive a Free and Appropriate Public Education. Both of my children have Persuasive Developmental Disorder, and this has forced me to become a strong advocate for my children. Consequently, this makes me more knowledgeable of special education programs, and it increased my desire to assist other parents who are navigating the special education system.
