JOB DESCRIPTION: Role and Responsibilities:

The Early Intervention Assistant (EIA) will assist the teacher to provide academic instruction to 3-5 year old children in HUNE’s Tots Program.  They also maintain a supportive and developmentally challenging environment for children with and without special educational needs. The EIA will:


-Supervise children at all times, ensuring that health and safety needs are met consistently, as guided by best practices, and the policies and procedures of Philadelphia HUNE, Inc.;


-Assist with daily activities for all developmental areas through weekly lesson plans established by teacher;


-Prepare educational materials as needed to implement daily activities;


-Foster self-concept, personality, character, emotional, social, physical and intellectual development of each child, as well as independence;


-Maintain rapport and communication with parents, as appropriate;


-Participate in regular staff meetings and annual parent conferences, as appropriate;


-Keep informed of current memoranda by checking individual mailbox, posted memos/newsletters and staff/child information board;


-Maintain current best practice standards in early childhood/early intervention through participation in conferences, workshops, reading related journals and literature;


-Maintain confidentiality at all times;


-Adhere to schedule as directed;


-Represent Philadelphia HUNE, Inc. in professional dress, manner and appearance;


-Exhibit an ability to handle conflict in a calm, appropriate, and professional manner;


-Perform other related duties as assigned by Executive Director, Supervisor and/or designee.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS


-Two (2) years’ experience working with children, preferably with Special Education Needs


-Diligently working towards obtaining their CDA -preferably-.
