Role and Responsibilities

The Bilingual Training Coordinator (BTC) provides youth with disabilities and families of children and youth with special educational needs information, direct assistance and training on all aspects of special education.  This includes information and assistance on implementing the applicable laws and their rights and responsibilities that ensure the child and/or youth meet educational progress and academic success. The BTC maintains an ongoing relationship with families, partners, school staff and the community at large, with linguistic appropriateness and cultural sensitivity.

Management and implementation of professional, youth and parent training and workshops:

Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders;

Maintain current with trends related to Special Education; coordinate the collection, development of training materials, curricula for the project, including revision and development of new workshops and materials;

Provide individual and technical assistance to youth with disabilities and families of children with disabilities on special education related concerns;

Disseminate project information, including exhibits, outreach activities and website

Assist in conducting translation (English and/or Spanish) of materials, as appropriate and/or requested;

Consults and collaborates with parents, team members, school faculty, and other referral agencies;

Adhere to HUNE’s data requirements and documents all client information and contacts, in-person and collateral, in HUNE’s database, as per HUNE protocol;

Participate in evaluation activities and assist in collecting and coordinating data on computer and maintaining database;

Ensures that documentation is submitted in accordance with HUNE standards, and meets all designated requirements;

Participates in regular staff meetings, in – out of state conferences and parent meetings;

Serves on committees designated by HUNE;

Maintains current best practice standards through participation in conferences, webinars, workshops, reading related journals and literature;

Maintains confidentiality at all times;

Adheres to work schedule as directed;

Represents Philadelphia HUNE, Inc. in professional dress, manner and appearance;

Exhibits an ability to handle conflict in a calm, appropriate, and professional manner;

And, Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor and/or Executive Director.


Speak and write English and Spanish fluently.

Ability to work well with others.

Willing and eager to learn, must be a self-starter.

Computer literate. Microsoft Office experience.

Associates Degree or equivalent experience.    

Experience in training and/or related field.

Demonstrated writing skills.

Ability to keep good records and collect required data.


Outspoken individual with experience with effective communication.

Knowledge of special education laws and community resources.

University accredited degree.

Experience in community/human/social service, especially in Latino community.
