Armindelis Toledo - Intake Worker

Hello,
My name is Armindelis Toledo and I am the Bilingual Intake Worker for the Special Education Helpline. I have been working with Philadelphia HUNE since November 2007. I assist the administrative assistant with daily office duties as well as maintain and update our helpline database.

I am a Hispanic parent of 6 amazing children 3 whom have disabilities. I reside in the American Street Empowerment Zone. I am knowledgeable of the cultural background of HUNE’s clients, the region that they come from, and the difficulties that they face in ensuring that their children receive a Free and Appropriate Public Education. My oldest son was dx with CP MR Scoliosis Asthma Failure to Thrive and is currently being tube fed, My 5 year old has a dual dx of Autism and ADHD, and my 3 year has a tentative dx of ODD. I have learned to use my personal struggles and accomplishments as a tool and guide to assist parents facing similar issues as mine.

Thanks to HUNE and my personal experience I am more knowledgeable in the rights of our children who are in the special education system. I will continue to educate myself by attending meetings, workshops, conferences and webinars pertaining to Special Education so that I can provide the most accurate and up to date information.
